Liferay Sync Long Path problem

I've been trying to upload some files from a path that exceeds the 260 characters limit under Windows 10 but liferay sync seems to have problems with the upload. The files are not in a failed state and if they are moved two folders down to a path that is short enough they start uploading normally. Is that a known issue and is there a workaround for it?

Liferay Sync does not properly handle file paths longer than 260 characters. I've created SYNC-1744 to track this issue.

However, long file names should generally be avoided for file syncing apps. If other Liferay Sync clients are not running Win10 or the long file paths option isn't enabled, they will likely not be able to download the file.
