Create sample pages and add portlets to pages using control panel

Hi All ,

I am very much new to the Liferay Portal or Portal itself

Can we Create sample pages and add portlets to pages using control panel with the portal server itself which i have download from this location and runed on my localhost

or else do i need to set up the development environment for that .....

Hi,
You can create pages and add default portlet using the downloaded server.

Hi,
start your server (startup.bat from tomcat/bin)
open a browser (http://localhost:8080)
log in with admin([e-mail] pwd: test) if you have 7cogs themes installed use [e-mail] pwd: bruno(you can chk for 7cogs theme under tomcat/webapps)

click on add page. create ur pages.
click on the page which you want to add portlets. then click on dock(welcome) you can see add application.
click on add application, it will bring up portlets available. from there you can add the portlets.

you can also look into Liferay Admin guide which you can google it

I have tries to add WEbContent for the created pages on the portal server of tomcat bundle .

Tried using control Panel "Content" Catagory but not getting added why so ...

Are you trying to use Liferay's out of box web content portlet? If yes you can add that portlet and then Edit the same to add some content. The same will display for you then.
