Make web site

Hello !
I want to use Liferay and make website..
I used Liferay since a week and I don't understand something..
1- Can i find documention about aplication(how can i use aplicaiton)
2- How can i add content and add content list ( vertical menu )(How can i write something and publish like joomla articles )
3- I understand something but not good and I want to use Liferay , please help me
