Liferay update Still

Hi,

I'm kinda' newbie to Liferay, specialy with upgrading it.
I am now using Liferay 5.1.2 with Tomcat 5.5 and i am windering how can i upgrade to 5.2.1+.
I found the docs for upgrading with the 5.2.2 war but it does not seem to work, i'm not sure what am i doing wrong so if you have knowledge of any tutorials or you can explain to me step by step how i can do it i'll apreciate it very much.

1) BACK UP YOUR DATABASE (You are using a real database like MySQL or Postgres riiiight????)
2) Move your current liferay folder to somewhere warm and safe
3) Drop in the 5.2.3 liferay bundle.
4) Configure it to talk to your database, what ever that may be
5) Start the "new" liferay
6) starting ONE AT A TIME, deploy any of your custom portlets
7) Check for errors, fix them and then deploy the next portlet

That's it...
