freeform and brochure theme problem

Hi there,
I've changed the brochure theme by removing the #theme.language() on the portal_normal.vm file. I've added a text instead and everything works fine except to the freeform template. The footer is showed on the top of the page just below the menus. There is no footer on the page anymore.

Do you know if the $theme.language() has any special code that make it render on the proper place? or if it is a bug on the freeform template.

Where I can find the code to the $theme.language() method?
