Deploying Liferay on existing Tomcat 6.0 server

I downloaded the liferay-portal-5.2.2.war and liferay-portal-5.2.2-dependencies.zip. I performed all configuration instructions from the admin guide but I was not successful with this installation. Couple problems:
1) It seems like some jars are missing from dependencies file. I was tired of not finding this class or the other and just copied all jars from a bundle package to the common/lib/ext directory.
2) I could not start the server due to an error about not finding com.liferay.kernel.bean.BeanRendererImpl class. I could not find this class in any package.
3) After copying the whole package from existing bundle the server hang with the message "Reloading Repositories".
Does anybody managed to successfully deploy a non-bundled version? If yes let me know the steps and packages you downloaded.
