Currently JBoss local server adapters for Liferay servers are not supported. There is an open ticket for these feature request however.

Its asking for downlaod for Tomcat beta bundle.Is it for Running on JBoss??

It needs the tomcat bundle to have the runtime libraries for Liferay (portlet.jar, portal-service.jar, etc). So projects can compile.

This issue is over a year old and 'on hold' propably forgotten.

It should get some attention as JBoss is a very strong alternative to Tomcat. And in commercial/enterprise development I often find restraints to developing on plattform A and running on plattform B.
If you have secondary applications running besides Liefray that need full JBoss support this can even be a killer argument.

Having two servers running is a workaround at best.

Hello all,

The product team at Liferay has decided that it is time for us to staff an engineer on the IDE team to implementing JBoss runtime support for Liferay portal. The good news is that there are already good OSS plugins for Eclipse to work with JBoss should technically it should just be a matter of integration at this point. JBoss support is on the roadmap for Liferay IDE 2.1 which should be finished early next year.
