Resetting a portlet

I've seen this question asked a few times and no threads I've found have given an answer. In my portal, if i search for something in a portlet, those search results remain on the page even when navigating away and coming back to the page. Same with every other portlet. All preferences and parameters remain as they were. How can my portlet behave as if the portlet was freshly deployed every time the user navigates away from the portal and comes back?

Maybe your search parameter an so on were put in the Session and dont get lost this way? I have never encountered this behavior before. Can u provide some sample Code?

Would help if you specify which version of Liferay and which browser you're using.
