User Group Pages with Asset Publisher (filtered by User Group)

Hello,

I'm working on an intranet site where my users are comming from the AD and all are associated with some AD Group.

In organizational terms every user belongs to a department (which corresponds to a AD Group). What I'm trying to achieve is to have a department page with an Asset Publisher containing 'public' information visible by all other departments and some 'private' information visible only by members of that department.

I've created a User Group public page with two Asset Publishers one for 'public' and the other for 'private' information. I've tried to set permissions on the asset publisher so that 'private' information would be visible by Community Members, but that doesn't seem to be working.

I've tried other configurations, but so far nothing seems to do the trick.

I'm using Liferay 6.0.6 CE.

Are the User Group pages the best aproach to what I'm trying to achieve?
How can I use Asset Publishers to filter information presented to user based on their Group?
Any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.
