Laguange selection BUG / by design ???

Hello all,


I have a question about language selection on liferay 5x. It seems that the language selection doesn't work for logged-in user (even if in www.liferay.com)

The scenario :
1. Try to access www.liferay.com
2. change the language to the others . It works....
3. Login in www.liferay.com using your ID
4. Change the language to the others. It doesn't work.

Is it by desgin or it's a bug ?
This behavior is the same behavior as my installation.
How to make change language for logged in user.

seems like a bug to me since I don't see an option to also set my prefer language under the MY ACCOUNT section. Can you please open a ticket at support.liferay.com?

For me it is working when i tested on liferay site(www.liferay.com) did you click on save which is on top?

actually, as suresh pointed out, there is a dropdown for language select under MY ACCOUNT. so it's not a bug per se ... but i suppose an improvement can be made to either hide the language flags for logged in users or to allow a quick language preference change by selecting a language flag.

I have also come across this issue. It seems for the admin user I can change the language successful with the icons at the top right. Guest as well, but not any of the users I have added. Is there an entry in the db I can add manually or update a specific jsp/template?

At least from the User_ table you can find language_id column. Not sure if that affects.

same problem for me in LR 5.2.3
Logged user can't use other languages!!
With the Admin user and Guest user it works.

I also had this bug earlier in 5.2.2

Problem is in permissions on language portlet for User role.

As I remember I set for logged in User (role User or Power User) viewing permission on Language portlet in Control Panel -> Roles -> {User} -> Define permissions menu.
