Loading Portlet Preferences using AJAX

Hi Everyone,

I'm back with another mystery. I have a page with several portlets on it (of course). Assume for the moment that I am logged in as a user with sufficient rights to modify the preferences for these portlets. Right now, when I pull down the menu and select preferences the entire page reloads. The portlet whose preferences I am accessing shows the correct page, while the others load with they normal view mode.

Question: Does anyone know if it is possible to using AJAX (?) to toggle the view of a portlet from View to Preferences without sending everything back to the server?

Ok -- follow on.

Does anyone know what file the portlet decorations are stored in? I'm trying to find where the drop down with the preferences link/action is stored?
