Upgrade from Liferay 6.1.0 GA1 CE edition into Liferay 6.1.0GA1 EE edition

Hi Liferay Support,

My client has been asking if it possible for the upgrade from existing Liferay version 6.1.0 GA1 CE edition into EE edition? is the EE edition available?

Assuming If it is available, kindly advise which approach is more feasible & less cost effective:

a. First Approach (2 phases)
Phase 1:Upgrade from Liferay CE 6.10 GA1 into 6.1.0 GA1 EE edition
Assuming develop man-days for building Liferay CE 6.10 GA1 is 100 mandays. (0-20, = low, 20-50 = medium, 50-100 = high)
Changes on Database Structure (Low, Medium, High)
Changes on Application/content/plugin (Low, Medium, High)

Phase 2: Upgrade from Liferay 6.1.0 GA1 EE edition into Liferay version 7 EE edition.
Assuming develop man-days for building Liferay CE 6.10 GA1 is 100 mandays. (0-20, = low, 20-50 = medium, 50-100 = high)
Changes on Database Structure (Low, Medium, High)
Changes on Application/content/plugin (Low, Medium, High)

b. Direct Approach
Upgrade from Liferay version 6.1.0 GA1 CE edition into Liferay 7 EXP EE edition
Assuming develop man-days for building Liferay CE 6.10 GA1 is 100 mandays. (0-20, = low, 20-50 = medium, 50-100 = high)
Changes on Database Structure (Low, Medium, High)
Changes on Application/content/plugin (Low, Medium, High)

That is a question for their Liferay sales rep. Given that 6.1 has been EOL for quite awhile now, it may not be possible, but only sales would know that.

you'll find voluntary answers here, not support. As David already said: Your question is best answered by sales. Please find the sales team for your region and ask there. They'll however tell you, that your assumption is wrong:

6.1 EE is not sold any more and the way to get support is to go for Liferay DXP directly. There might be a small and short change to get 6.2 EE intermediary, but even that support won't last long any more, thus I'd stand by the DXP argument.

Whatever you do: 6.1 CE GA1 had several more releases since release and really should be updated to fix at least the known&fixed issue with that version asap. Thinking about upgrades is correct - don't waste a lot of time. Liferay sales will also let you know about the support periods that you can expect for the EE offerings. With them, you'd have some more time to stay on the same version (4-7 years)

Direct update from current Liferay 6.1.0 GA1 CE into Liferay DXP 7 EE edition is more worthwhile.
