Customize Liferay banner

Hello everybody!

I am really new to Liferay so i'm sure this is a silly question but here i go:

I have already downloaded and installed Liferay. The first thing that i need to do is to customize the banner, i would like to change tha banner background color for red or green instead of the black one, or i would like to put a background image on it, something this Liferay portal i found:
www.knowview.com

How can i do to achieve this?

I forgot to say that i'm using Liferay 5.2.3

Do i need to use the Plugins Software Development Kit (SDK) in order to change the banner color or put an image as a backgound?

Hi Ana,

Exactly as you say, you need to use SDK to change the look and feel about your portal, you need is develop your own the theme. If you need more information about liferay portal you can consulting this link:

I've already downloaded the PluginsSDK for the 5.2.3 Liferay version.

I want to set a new banner image for the classic theme, i know that i can find the classic theme in the tomcat-5.5.27/webapps/ROOT/html/themes/classic/ of my Liferay installation, but i don't know what are the next steps i should take. Can you please point me out where to go next?

If you have the plugin SKD, then you could to do own theme, you should reading this link:
