still stuck on facebook login

I just can't figure it out, and I'm pulling my hair out. I could swear it's set up correctly, but facebook login always redirects back to the liferay homepage and the url shows like "......com/#_=_" at the end. I found another thread with a user suggesting that Facebook changed something so that it will be effectively unfixable until the facebookconnect module is upgrade. Is there any truth to this?
