I am unable to delete page templates.

"You cannot delete page templates that are used by a page."

I cannot figure out where the template is used. There is no page which use this template! The table "layout" contains the templates. Can I force delete it in the Database? How can I figure out on which page the template is used. Is there a Graph or so. The table "layout" also contains entries which are not shown in liferays gui. How get rid of these zombie entries? what is the groupId in this table for?

You're being told they are not, in fact, zombie entries. They are in use in at least one location. Just because you can't find the references doesn't mean they are zombies.

Never, ever modify the database directly. Doing so is asking for instability, corruption or an outage.
