Question on (Group-) Calendars

I try to use the Calendar portlet on a community website. The intention would be that every site member could create calendar bookings on that calendar. More important: When Site Administrators create bookings on the calendar, site members should at least be able to see the "Details" (aka. "Description") of the event. Is there a way to achieve this with or without programming?
If the Calendar Portlet still would be a "core" portlet I'd just create a JSP hook, so that all Site members could see the "View Details" Button on the events pop up screen, but unfortunately the calendar is a plugin portlet, and I yet haven't found a solution to write a JSP hook for a plugin. (I know this, but it doesn't work for me)
So I would be glad if I could achieve y requiremenst without "hooking" the calendar.

Stupid me!
Finally it was as easy as adjusting the permissions of the "Site Members" role. There is an explicit "View Event Details" permission I had to grant to that role.
