Lucene and type of Analyzer

In the class LuceneUtil is used the analyzer WhitespaceAnalyzer.

In my study on lucene is always suggest to use StandardAnalyzer, also for remove stop word. I also try user StopAnalyzer.
I try to change to it, but reindexing take many time and doens't seem work. Does someone try to change it?

What is the motivation of use the whitespaceAnalyzer?

I'm trying to find something about changing the default Lucene Analyzer to BrazilianAnalyzer but I didn't find anything on the web.

Before liferay 6.1, the portal.properties has some parameter that could switch easily but now I am lost.

If someone knows how to do that.. please show me the path!

This is an old thread but just for records,

StandardAnalyzer uses dictionary so that's why it requires more time.

WhitespaceAnalyzer splits input string along whitespaces but not along punctuation.
