from web application how i can triger listner in Liferay based event

Is there a way in which from a web application which is not in Liferay, I can trigger a Listener in Liferay based on an event and that too preferably client side

For example Consider a scenario where a web application calls an url in itself and some action is performed(for example addData) now i want something in Liferay that would bind to this "addData" event and trigger a listener which performs some action.

Please give me suggestions preferably with example if you have.
