We are working on develpoing some custom pertlets and have had some frustrations with the setup of the development environment.

We have setup tomcat running liferay 4.1.1 and are spawning it from within eclipse. The problem is that everytime that we make a change to a JSP, liferay undeploys and redeploy's the portlet.

Is there an ideal way to set up the devlopment environment for portlets?

thanks,
mjc

Have you tried Lomboz? There seems to be Liferay server support. I haven't tried it myself yet but some have reported it to work.

Please download Eclipse 3.2 with Web Tools Platform support. You can create a dynamic Web Project for custom portlets, use the portlet deployer ant build file to hot deploy portlets from Eclipse. This is how I have been doing my development.
