I tried to convert one of my existing Spring Framework portlet projects to a Liferay project with the Liferay IDE menu command, but couldn't get it to work. Googling led me to this issue here. As it happened, I had already modified a Liferay IDE project to work with Maven, so I knew the two could co-exist. I monkeyed with a number of configuration files in the Eclipse project and managed to convert my Spring Maven project into a Liferay project. I documented the process and provided a working sample project.

Hopefully this will help someone else get up and running!

Hi Rick,

the links you provided for the process documentation and the working project are nott valid anymore.
I need to import a maven project into liferay ide and that would be of great help to me. Do you still have a copy of it?

thanks,
Daniel
