both of them should display this article.
do you have any results?
If not, your search is probably disabled or not up-to-date for whatever reason.

hi victor,
the search option is working in both search and journal search but some how it is not perfect. For example , i have a page component.

If i type full "component" then only this page is displayed in the list. If i search the same word even with one character less, it will not bring the results. what is the use of this search ?

With Regards,
V.Auditya

what do you mean by search disabled?

You are asking for the article's "is searchable option"?

journal search but some how it is not perfect

liiferay has implemented only straightforward use of lucene queries. You would need to train your users utilizing wildcard searches, or inject relevant extensions into your code.
In case of google, they do significant pre-processing of a search query, including use of extension vocabularies, such as synonym, topic domain, etc libraries. Same will eventually happen here.

Liferay works as per the search you need.

However you will have to make sure about some issues

First is whether in journal content search portlet configuration is the checkbox checked?

This checkbox is checked then it will only show up the article which you have selected in Journal Content portlet.

Another thing is your indexes. Whether your index folder is clean and not corrupted.

There is a software called luke. Download that and check that whether you have all indexes or not.

If somehow you find that you dont have anything in your index, then re-index using Admin portlet. I think admin portlet has that facility.

Thanks

Hi Victor,

I have to customize user search page for admin, please help me in this part. following are the some req. :-

1. Want to add some criteria, we already have First name, last name etc. as search criteria.
In same way communities and two more additional info of the user need to be added.

2. Want to add same criteria as result column.

3. On result row want to add one more action already we have edit, permission etc. in the same way one more need to be added.

For the above mentioned point, can you please tell me how these new criteria can be taken into account and how I will be getting all the result column populated with values on the basis of search criteria entered.
Which all files need to be modified?
how and where can we modify search query?

I know some files(\html\portlet\enterprise_admin) and trying to modify them.

Please suggest me some way to achieve all these customization,As I am beginner and Its very urgent issues, so need your guidance.

Hello,

I would like to understand how lucene works ?
I have created a web content structure with 2 fields.
1) what is the difference to define a field with "searchable - text" and "searchable - keyword"?
2) I add the portlet "web content search" and provide to search an article that contains a specific value. It returns good ones. But I don't understand why because in my structure I define the field (where the info is) with type "text area" and "no searchable".
3) I change the structure to change one field with the type "text" and "searchable text"
I reindex with the server task functionality and try to find info -> no answer

Have somone some better experience ?

Thanks

I'm also looking for an answer to the question about the difference between Searchable - Text and Searchable - Keyword and outside of an issue, LPS-18347, that hasn't been answered yet I can't seem to find an answer.

Better late than never:

http://www.liferay.com/documentation/liferay-portal/6.1/user-guide/-/ai/lp-6-1-ugen03-advanced-content-creation-0

Index Type: Choose how you want Liferay to index your field for search. You can have it indexed by keyword, which filters out common words such as and, but, the, and so on ("Searchable - Keyword"), or you can have it index the full text of the field ("Searchable - Text"). By default, indexing is turned off ("Not Searchable").
