mail configurations in portlet-ext.properties not working

I am facing problems with the configuration of mail server in glass fish v3 prelude.
i have added the below properties in portlet-ext.properties, but i always get the warning smtp mail server not configured properly.
but the same properties work in tomcat 5.5.

i am trying to figure this out, can some one help me out

I am making use of liferay 5.2.2


mail.session.mail.store.protocol=smtp
mail.session.mail.transport.protocol=smtp

mail.session.mail.imap.host=localhost
mail.session.mail.pop3.host=localhost
