Hi,
I want to configure mail server for Liferay 5.2.3.
I have tried it via portlet-ext.properties, Root.xml and via UI as well.
These are the only three possible ways i had found in the net.
but nothing is working.
I am not able to send mails.
I have tried to configure my gamil account as well.
When i am triyng "telnet smtp.gamil.com" or"imap.gamil.com", there is no error messsage comming.

can anyone please help me out.
What could be the problem?
what should i do?

Regards,

Put this in ur root.xml and try. It worked for me ! I tested with the calendar portlet and web form portlet.

<Resource
name="mail/MailSession"
auth="Container"
type="javax.mail.Session"
mail.imap.host="localhost"
mail.pop.host="localhost"
mail.store.protocol="imap"
mail.transport.protocol="smtp"
mail.smtp.host="smtp.gmail.com"
mail.smtp.port="465"
mail.smtp.auth="true"
mail.smtp.starttls.enable="true"
mail.smtp.user="valid gmail id"
password="password"
mail.smtp.socketFactory.class="javax.net.ssl.SSLSocketFactory"
/>

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.
I have tried this one also.
It's not working for me.
R u using the same LR5.2.3 with tomcat6.0?

i am checking this mail functinality with the help of events of calender.
Is there any other way also?

I have found somewhere in the net that there is no need of changing the configuration files for setting the mail server. You can do it only from UI.
I have tried that as well, but nothing is giving proper response.

What else should i do?

Regard,

Thanks once again,

It's working for me also now.
Even there is no need to reconfigure either ROOT.xml or portlet-ext.properties.
Now we can configure it directely from the UI itself.
For me, it was some problems related to proxy servers and firwalls.
Now we are using Finland server to bypass the proxies and it's working fine.

Hey Guys,

Can you tell me what you changed for firewall/proxy to make this work?
I am using 5.2.3 version of liferay and unable to send mails using gmail smtp.

I tried telnet smtp.gmail.com 465 and it works fine.

Please help!
