Service builder hint solution is really working ?

When we create table via service.xml the default column length is 75 characters (for string). We tried the below steps to change the column length.

Updated portlet-model-hints.xml. Since it was not reflecting the change, created portlet-model-hints-ext.xml and tried to build service. Looks like we are facing this issue with maven type (http://issues.liferay.com/browse/MAVEN-37).

In both the case, updated values are getting overwritten, while building service. Hence we are not able to modify column length of the tables. Currently we are checking in this regard. Let us know if you have any suggestions in this regard.

Yep, it works with charm on ant... See this link...
However the jira issue depicts that there is some issue in case of Maven...
