2. how can we contribute towards 2.0 w/o it?

Hey David,

So current liferay-ide/master is IDE 2.0 emoticon You should be able to clone, go to the root, and run
mvn clean install

When it gets done, look in this folder:

build/releng/com.liferay.ide-repository/target/

There will be file like "Liferay_IDE_2.0.0.xxxx-updatesite.zip. Point your Eclipse install/update wizard at this file and you can install IDE 2.0 dev build. Let me know if you have any problems with it.

Quick note, IDE 2.0 is only development build now. We haven't even released a milestone-1 but we hope to do that very soon.

Just sent a pull request for Vaadin 7 Portlet support...

Hopefully we can get it into the 2.0 release!

Even if the portal is not officially supporting V7, that doesn't mean we're not doing so in the field, and having a V7 portlet option would be great!

Squeaky wheel gets the grease ?

From my 'who am I to direct Liferay' perspective, I am concerned about number of moving parts looking to get included ; I do think OSGi is the coolest introduction but can only imagine all the touchpoints for that including the IDE

from what I see so far Vaadin 7 rocks tho I am waiting before I adopt it

I agree w/ everything you said, Jack...

Everyone has needs, however, and Liferay is the gatekeeper.

I'm hoping that it will be easier to get stuff added to an upcoming release rather than waiting post-release. I mean, there's just so much time between releases and so many features accumulating during that time, that the V7 support not being in the IDE could result in developers delaying V7 development since the tools wouldn't support it...

For me also Liferay IDE/Studio is essential. We can't jump ship can we (am into pirate references lately given readings for my kids).

Am probing Vaadin Touchkit lately too for adaptive; responsive layouts is one thing, but adaptive ?
