Hi Everyone,

I would like to run liferay on my existing glassfish (v2 on opensolaris) in conjunction with mysql.

The installation (as described here: http://blogs.sun.com/sfehrman/entry/liferay_5_0_on_existing) went all fine, and I have now my pre-compiled liferay-portal-5.2.1 enabled (true) under web-applications in glassfish. However, when I want to launch the application it gives me "HTTP Status 503" (The requested service () is not currently available.).

Does anyone know if this is a bug or an error in my configuration?

Thx & Cheers,
Michael

Edit: looking at the server.log, things seem to go wrong when this happens:

[#|2009-02-10T16:18:30.677+1300|INFO|sun-appserver9.1|javax.enterprise.system.stream.out|_ThreadID=14;_ThreadName=pool-1-thread-3;|

java.sql.SQLException: Connections could not be acquired from the underlying database!

Is it perhaps missing some libraries or should I install something else?

5.2 has moved database configuration into portal(-ext).properties, so
you no longer have
to configure GlassFish for JDBC connection configuration , or mail
session configuration. It is all
done via Liferay, so all you have to to is configure your
portal-ext.properties and it should go.

thx for the answer!

it seems that portal(-ext).properties has to be generated "by hand" - in which directory and should i use the template from http://content.liferay.com/document/portal.properties.html?

I deployed liferay-portal-5.2.1, precompiled JSPs without errors, created 'portal.properties' for the liferay domain on glassfish under /var/appserver/domains/liferay/applications/j2ee-modules/liferay-portal-5.2.1/WEB-INF/classes, created symlink to portal-ext.properties, restarted domain, but still get "HTTP Status 503" when I want to launch the application. It doesn't even show up without the msyql patch - any Ideas??? Thx!

following your suggestions I managed to connect liferay to mysql
creating a db named lportal with
> create database lportal character set utf8;
Now the portal home page shows the Terms of Use window but, surprisingly,
the "I agree" button doesn't work while the "I Disagree" shows, as expected,
the alert window "You must agre.."
Any suggestion ?
Thanks,
Luciano
