Hi All

We recently upgraded to LR 6.1.0 and are having problems with our calendar portlet.
When creating a calendar event that starts after 7pm, the event shows at that time on the next day.
For example: If I schedule an event for 8pm on Friday it will appear as 8pm on Saturday.

I suspect our timezone (GMT -5) is related, but I'm not sure what to change to correct this behavior.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the quick response, Jaid.
I checked that setting and it's (unfortunately?) already set at GMT - 5.

Just to let you know, I just tested with liferay 6.1.0GA1 in standard configuration and the entered date was as correct. That is to say, I don't think it's the liferay software that's at fault.

Hi Hitoshi

I assumed it was a configuration setting, but don't know where to start looking.
I have a bit more detail to provide.
The wrong day only affects the summary view.
If I go to Events tab, the day/time displays correctly.

During my investigation I found a timezone setting per user--what effect does this have?

That just converts to user's view of date/time. Portal Settings setting is the date/time used to save to database.
These settings are used when liferay endusers are in several timezones. They should be the same setting
if every endusers are in one timezone.

FYI: Date/Time in my summary view is alright here.

There does look to be an issue with how the Calendar portlet displays RECURRING events on the Summary tab.

We are in EST timezone. If you enter a recurring event after 8PM, it displays on the next day in the summary view.

For instance, May 17 is a Thursday...

If I enter a RECURRING appointment beginning May 17 at 8PM to recur weekly on Thursdays, it displays the event for Fridays on Summary view.

It seems like a timezone issue with how the code interprets it for display.

The details of the message (start date, recurrence, timezone, etc.) appear to store correctly in the database.

Again, the key to creating the issue is to do a recurring appointment that falls within the timezone offset.
