Upgrade from 4.2 to 5.1 with no success

Hello,

how to upgrade from 4.2 to 5.1? Is it possible to upgrade automatically?

I tried to start a new LR 5.1 on an old database 4.2 and hoped the automatic upgrade would do the work for me, but it didn't work.
After that I executed all upgrade sql statements (downloaded before) and started the new LR but that didn't work either.

A lot of exceptions and LR doesn't work in both cases.

I'm using the LR bundle Tomcat+Jboss4.2.

Is there any documentation that could help?

You need to first upgrade to 4.3.x before you can upgrade to 5.1.x

Thanks, I've a note in the wiki already, but now I try to migrate first to 4.4 but I get the following exception:

Doing an upgrade from 4.2.1 do 4.3.3 I get exactly the same exception.
It's no easy job to keep LR installations up to date and I guess this will be a criteria for choosing LR in future production environments...

Hi,

Are you following this wiki: http://www.liferay.com/web/guest/community/wiki/-/wiki/Main/Upgrade+Instructions+from+4.2+to+4.3 and the others in this series?

If you are using Liferay 4.2.1, you have to upgrade to 4.2.2 first, then from there you can upgrade to 4.3, 4.4, 5.1.

I also have problems when try to upgrade since liferay 4.2.0 to liferay 5.2.2 .... I have errors when organization table is upgrade. This problem is comment in this issue upgrade Problem ....Can anybody help me with this ?? Thanks!
