Need type="Decimal" in service.xml. Why isn't it there?

All the databases I know (MS SQL Server and MySQL!) support decimal. I'm doing financial work. Double doesn't hack it. For example, to test for computed Double equality one has to do IF abs(D1 - D2) < .00001.

Any good reason it's missing?

There are many things missing in service builder tool, I can understand how important it would be the decimal column type for financial sector. I hope somebody from Liferay will listen on this. You can always post your suggestions @ Suggestions and Feature Requests

There's also a patch but I'm not sure if it works with the current version but it my give you an idea.

Thanks. I read LEP-841 and understand most of it but have no idea what an ext-hbm.xml file is or how to use it or what goes with it or where it goes. Other than that, I'm cool with trying this!?!

They spoke as if it would be supported in 6.1 back in February, but the service builder source code is the same as 6.0.6's and BigDecimal isn't there.

Well, Jonas isn't with Liferay, and he probably has other schedules he need to meet. As it is, it may not make it into 6.1.0 which by the roadmap is suppose to be released on Dec. 30th. emoticon
